Getting a built-from-the-ground-up remake over a decade later from EA and Motive (Star Wars: Squadrons), enough time has passed for it to make a lot of sense in 2023. With its sci-fi setting of the derelict Ishimura spaceship through to the main protagonist being an engineer and using something called a Plasma Cutter to “cut off their limbs,” it quickly became one of the defining releases for that generation of hardware. The original Dead Space was released back in 2008 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, and it immediately felt like a breath of fresh air for the horror genre.
